Vacanta in Sicilia

EN: I am back with pictures from Sicily. I hope they will give you a good vibe and make you put Sicily in your upcoming travel plans. It’s an absolutely wonderful area of Italy, with lots of little towns worth visiting, with extremely friendly and open people- especially in Italian, not so much in English, with awesome food and such beautiful scenery, that I have asked myself multiple times how come we just got here for the first time. Surely we’ll come back again.

Acolo ne-a prins apusul.

EN: Above you can see pictures from Siracuza, one of the most beautiful towns of the island. There are also 3 images from the most spectacular accommodation we booked on Airbnb- an old vineyard- but also one of the cheapest, against all expectations! You can see in detail in a future vlog episode of Brambura around the World.

I have an upcoming set of pictures from Etna. We chose an easy path up the volcano, which you normally take in 15 minutes. At first Vlad was very determined to get to the crater, he was careful where he was stepping and he encouraged me to believe that – here we are- at that stage where the child can go on short hikes up the mountain. But it all ended with Vlad being carried by me and then by Radu, it almost felt like climbing the Everest.

And the pictures from the seaside are in the city of Taormina. Behind me you can see Isola Bella, divided from the continent through a narrow strip of sand, very easy to walk on. That’s where we saw the sunset. I was holding Vlad, we were both looking towards the sea, none of us was talking, we were listening to the seagulls, when he says to me: “Mum, this one of those quiet moments we read about in your book, a hygge moment!” And that’s exactly what it was.

When I will miss Sicily, I will read this post again. That’s what I did with all my travel posts- when I miss Thailand, India, Cambodia… I just search for the destination on the blog and I look at the pictures again, whether I am in an Uber, on a break from theatre rehearsals or in bed at night, before falling asleep- like I am now. I will upload the rest of the pictures from vacation, so I can tell you about our entire itinerary in Sicily.
